Harlan Capital Partners LLC is an SEC-registered alternative investment advisory firm formed in 2010 by Joshua D. Harlan and Leonard M. Harlan. Harlan Capital is based in New York City and focuses on investing in niche and emerging asset classes and strategies.
Joshua D. Harlan
Mr. Harlan founded Harlan Capital Partners to capitalize on opportunities presented by niche and emerging asset classes. He has almost 20 years of experience in private market investing, portfolio management, and investment banking. He was previously a portfolio manager and a member of the private markets investment committee at OPTrust, which manages one of Canada’s largest pension funds. Prior to that, he was a director in the investment banking group at Allen & Company, where he focused on media and technology companies. Mr. Harlan received an AB summa cum laude in philosophy from Harvard College, a master’s degree from Balliol College, Oxford, and a JD degree from Yale Law School. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Leonard M. Harlan
Mr. Harlan co-founded Harlan Capital Partners and has more than 50 years of experience in private equity, real estate finance and development, and investment banking. He co-founded Castle Harlan, Inc., a middle market buyout firm, in 1987, and also co-founded CHAMP, Castle Harlan’s Australian affiliate. Previously he was founder and president of The Harlan Company, which engaged in real estate finance and development. He began his career in 1965 as an investment banker at Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette. Mr. Harlan received his BA in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and an MBA with distinction, as well as a doctorate, from Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Weill Cornell Medical College and co-chair of the New York Region of Business Executives for National Security.
